The ATTC Network is comprised of 14 Regional Centers and one National Office. At the regional level, the individual Centers’ primary focus is on meeting the unique needs of their areas while also supporting national initiatives.
The following features just a few of the Workforce Development Projects carried out by Regional Centers. Revisit this site often as other projects will be highlighted in the future.
The Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine (UCC) developed the first graduate program in Puerto Rico offering a Master of Health Sciences in Substance Abuse and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling (In Spanish). The Program, designed and supported by the Caribbean Basic & Hispanic ATTC and CSAT, is part of the Family Medicine and Common Health Department of the School of Medicine at the Universidad Central del Caribe.
Central East ATTC is hosting their seventh annual Keeping It Real 2008 conference on September 22-24, 2008. It will provide cutting-edge information on issues related to HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and substance abuse. All outreach workers, substance abuse counselors, and other related healthcare personnel who work with the drug-addicted and HIV/AIDS/HCV population are encouraged to attend. The Central East ATTC Regional Center also offers distance education through online courses and recently produced the booklet, Selfcare: A Guide for Addiction Professionals.

Mountain West ATTC, with the assistance of Dr. Joyce Hartje, Joann Brosh, and Angela Broadus, has also compiled an annotated bibliography on workforce development. It will be updated quarterly.
University-based courses and programs, and workshops for pre-service addiction counselors and related professionals are offered through the Nevada Prevention Resource Center.
Mid-America ATTC published the reference document, Psychotherapeutic Medications: What Every Counselor Should Know. The 2008 version is now available.
Mid-Atlantic ATTC offers a Center for online courses through Access Ed and established a Center of Excellence in Motivational Interviewing.
Northeast ATTC – collaborates with the New York SSA office (OASAS), the Institute for Professional Development in the Addictions (IPDA), and the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State (ASAP-NYS) specializing in work force development. Representatives from these groups formed a task force which identified significant challenges that prevent individuals from receiving prevention and treatment services. Solutions to the New York State’s Addiction Workforce Crisis: IPDA’s Response, was shared with leading experts in workforce development. This Workforce White Paper was prepared to inform and advise policy makers, educators, representatives of government, and foundations about the workforce crisis. 43
Northwest Frontier ATTC offers training and technical assistance to help improve counselor skills, including trainings in Clinical Supervision. The Clinical Supervision I and II trainings focus on the teaching and mentoring aspects of clinical supervision and are designed to meet the needs of both experienced and new clinical supervisors in addiction treatment settings. 44
Southeast ATTC hosted a symposium: Alcohol and Other Drug Problems Among Addiction Professionals. The proceedings have been compiled into a booklet with the same title.
